A great resource

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

I found this great blog that a director of an educational technology centre is writing. His blog is what I intend this blog to be - a source of information on changes, work-arounds, and other comments.

Internet Explorer 7

Monday, November 6th, 2006

IE7 is already available for download, and they’ll start “pushing” it to users soon.

Currently, IE7 is NOT a supported browser for WebCT CE6. I’ve already downloaded the new Internet Explorer, and it seems to work just fine with WebCT, but I do get the annoying pop-up window warning me that it’s not a supported browser. WebCT is aware of this, and is currently testing the new browser.

Monday, September 25th, 2006

There is a nice summary of some of the WebDav issues here. For me, WebDav seems to work best in IE6 on a PC. I dearly miss the ability to upload files with WebDav directly from Dreamweaver, and that has been reported to WebCT.

Stopping students from printing quizzes

Friday, September 8th, 2006

I learned today that there is apparently code that you can add to a quiz so that students cannot print it out.

You can access the discussion thread on this topic in the Ask DrC forums.

Adding audio to HTML pages in WebCT

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

I havn’t explored all of the suggestions I got when I asked how to load audio files neatly into HTML pages, but I did learn that using the “a href” tag is not a good thing for audio files.

WebDAV and WebCT

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

When it works well, it rocks. Sometimes it just doesn’t quite work, and I never understand why.
This series of postings on the Ask DrC site provides some answers such as which Dreamweaver is best, how best to use Network Places and what a Goliath download is. I don’t quite understand everything they are talking about, but sounds like good advice to me.
